Doctorate

The preparation of a dissertation at the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology is supported by a doctoral program (see the doctoral regulations). To pursue a doctorate, an application for admission must be submitted to the Doctoral Committee before beginning the work. If the application confirms that the applicant possesses the qualifications required for the doctorate, the research program may begin. Otherwise, a preparatory program must be completed first.

For both the research program and the preparatory program, enrollment in the doctoral program is required following admission to the doctoral program. In the doctoral program, students must complete the requirements listed in the doctoral regulations (§10 of the regulations dated March 16, 2026) and document them in a student record book. The content of the preparatory studies is determined by the doctoral committee upon admission to the program.
