General information
A large part of modern industrial development is based on the discovery of new reactions, chemicals and biochemical processes. To prepare students for interdisciplinary work in research and development as well as in other professional fields, the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology offers Bachelor's and Master's degree programs in Chemistry and Chemical Biology. It is also possible to study chemistry as a teaching subject for all teaching qualifications.
In order to be able to offer the widest possible range of specialist courses, we work together with the Department of Biological and Chemical Engineering (BCI), the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Physiology (MPI) and other institutes in Dortmund, such as the Leibniz Institute for Analytical Sciences (ISAS) and the Leibniz Institute for Occupational Research at TU Dortmund University (IfADo).
As experience abroad is becoming increasingly important due to increasing globalization, the Master's degree course is structured in such a way that it is easy to study abroad. For this reason, the department supports international studies and the Erasmus+ program.
At our department, renowned scientists work in research on various topics in the fields of synthetic chemistry, biosciences, interfaces and simulations as well as teaching and learning research in chemistry and biology. You can find more information on the research areas at our department here on our website under the names of the respective professors. Of course, our department also offers the opportunity to do a doctorate.
